Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed ways to expand cooperation between Bangladesh and Türkiye in the areas of economy, trade and investment during a meeting in New York on Tuesday.

The high-level meeting was held at the Turkish House at 821 United Nations Plaza.

The two leaders exchanged views on various issues of mutual interest and discussed the scope for further expanding existing cooperation in the economic, trade and investment sectors.

They also discussed important regional and international issues and stressed the need for continued close cooperation and coordination between the two countries.

The two leaders expressed their commitment to further strengthening the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Türkiye and opening up new areas of cooperation based on mutual interests and shared priorities.

Meanwhile, PM seeks global support for dignified Rohingya repatriation

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today sought support from the international community to ensure the dignified repatriation of Rohingyas to their homeland.

He made the appeal when Julie Bishop, Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General on Myanmar, paid a courtesy call on him during his visit to New York to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).During the meeting, the prime minister stressed the need for international cooperation to ensure the dignified return of Rohingyas and find a sustainable solution to the prolonged crisis, said PM’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.

The discussion also focused on the effective role of the international community in resolving the Rohingya crisis.
